I could spend hours sitting at a cafe in Paris, with a specialty cocktail or a cappuccino. I guess both if you sit there long enough.

A cafe in Paris can be a place that serves coffee and croissants or sometimes they’ll serve classics like French onion soup and a croque monsieur.

By nightfall, the place can become a bar where Parisians relax on the outdoor terrace in rattan chairs while they drink rosé and chain smoke. The word “café” in France can mean so many things, serving different dishes at different times of day.

I was lucky enough to check quite a few Parisian favorites off the list when I visited this past January.

Maison Sauvage

This cafe is inspired by Parisian countryside houses. The main spectacle is it’s flowers that change every season. While I was there, pink flowers took over the second floor balcony. The cafe features a stunning outdoor area and a second floor open for the winter time. Straw baskets, embroidered items, and more decor give it a fairytale atmosphere right off of Boulevard Saint-Germain.

Cafe de Flore:

Café de Flore would be considered a tourist attraction by a local, but I had to check it out since its one of the oldest cafés in Paris. It is on a very busy street in Saint – Germain and has the classic Parisian café vibe. It was later in the day, so I strayed away from the typical croissant choice and ordered a bowl of French onion soup and a croque monsieur. It was delicious and definitely worth the stop!

The Hoxton

You’ve most likely seen The Hoxton and its stunning interiors pop up on your instagram feed. The small hotel group is known for exquisitely styled hotels in the hippest cities. You don’t have to stay at the hotel to enjoy a hot tea or coffee inside their bright and beautifully furnished cafe. I opted for a midday tea, but I’d return for evening cocktails in a heartbeat.

Le Vrai Paris, France

Le Vrai Paris

Right before entering the super busy Montmartre neighborhood is Le Vrai Paris, or the real Paris. This small cafe is the perfect spot to grab a coffee and one last breath of fresh air right before heading into the crowded alleys of Montmartre where youll find the cutest boutiques with handmade crafts like jewelry, candles and paintings. It’s a highlight known for its over the top flowers and lights on it’s roof and it does not disappoint.

Angelina Cafe Paris France

Angelina Café:

Coco Chanel used to come here so you know it’s a classic. The hot chocolate at Angelina Cafe is pretty amazing. I did not eat here – rather stopped in and got a hot-chocolate to go but if you do want to eat there, it’s recommended to make a reservation as it is very popular and always crowded.

Cafe Cassette in Paris, France

Café Cassette:

Café Cassette is the cutest café located in the Montparnasse area near Rue de Rennes. It is known for its vibrant flowers and botanical vibes – I went for dinner, and it did not disappoint. I had the truffle risotto and an aperol spritz and it was the best risotto of the entire trip. This was my favorite place we visited and I can’t wait to go back the next time I’m in Paris.
